Carol Gilligan

She was born in New York City and studied literature at Swarthmore College and psychology at Harvard University.
She taught at New York University and Harvard University.
She married Dr. James Gilligan, who served as director of Harvard Medical School's Center for the Study of Violence.
She was born in the same year as Marge Piercy, a poet and fellow feminist.
