Carles Castillejo
Runner
Long-distance runner who has competed in the marathon, half-marathon, 10k, and 5k events on behalf of Spain. He finished in fifth place at back-to-back European Athletics Championships in 2010 and 2012, and won the Granollers Half Marathon event in 2012.
He won the Spanish national championship for the 5k event in 2004, which proved to be his breakthrough.
He competed at his fourth Olympic Games for Spain as a long-distance runner in 2016, where he finished as a top 50 marathoner. He earned a silver medal at the 2009 European Team Championships in the 5k event.
He was originally born and raised in Barcelona, Spain.
He competed against eventual bronze medalist Galen Rupp in the marathon event at the 2016 Olympic Games.
