He spent just one year at Melbourne's Junior Development Squad before making his debut at age 20 for their senior side.
He became co-captain of Melbourne in 2008 following the retirement of David Neitz, and recorded the 200th goal of his career in a Round 9 match against Hawthorn.
He was born in Melbourne, Australia.
Shortly before retirement he left Melbourne to play with Lance Franklin and Hawthorne.
