2004 Olympic freestyle wrestling gold medalist, he is known as one of the greatest amateur wrestlers of all time. He later became the head wrestling coach of Penn State University.
He won four state wrestling titles in high school.
He ended his collegiate wrestling career with an astonishing undefeated record of 159-0.
Has two brothers, Cody and Cole, who were also wrestlers. He married Kelly Sanderson in 2002.
He won a gold medal at the 2004 Athens Olympics, which was also the case for Ryan Lochte.
