Brian Garfield
Screenwriter
American author and screenwriter who is known for such critically-acclaimed works as Hopscotch (1975) and Death Wish (1972). His 1969 work, The Thousand-Mile War: World War II in Alaska, was nominated for the Pulitzer Prize in History.
He began his literary career as a screenwriter. He published his first novel, Range Justice, in 1960 when he was just 18 years old.
His novel Hopscotch won the prestigious Edgar Award in 1975.
He was brought up in New York the son of a portrait artist. He was married to Bina Garfield.
Like author Margaret Mitchell, he was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize.
