Winner of 11 PGA Tours and a Masters Tournament during his 14 year-career.
He played football, not golf, at the University of Illinois.
He won the 1968 Masters Tournament against Roberto DeVicenzo because of an error on his scorecard that he didn't see or catch.
Two of his nephews also played in the PGA; another nephew became a golf coach at Wake Forest.
He and Lee Janzen both played for the U.S. Ryder Cup team.
