Singer who specialized in the bebop genre and was one of the last of the supper club performers.
She started out learning classical music when she was a child, but fell in love with jazz during her teenage years.
She founded The Blue Stars of France after moving to Paris in 1952; the group would later be known as the Swingle Sisters.
She married Belgian flutist and saxophonist Bobby Jaspar who she met while living in Paris.
She had late-career success when her friend, jazz singer and composer Bob Dorough, employed her as a voice on the classic Schoolhouse Rock! series.
