South African rugby union player who became known as a hooker for the Natal Sharks in the Currie Cup and the Sharks in Super Rugby.
He made his professional debut with the Super Rugby Sharks in 2005.
He became part of South Africa's national rugby team in 2007.
His brother, Jannie, also became a rugby player, known for holding the tighthead prop position.
He and JP Pietersen both played for the Currie Cup Natal Sharks and the Super Rugby Sharks.
