Billy Walker
Country Singer
Known as The Tall Texan, Walker was an American country singer who released the 1962 hit song, "(I'd Like to Be In) Charlie's Shoes."
He was inspired by Gene Autry when he was young and began singing as a teenager in 1949 with the Big D Jamboree in Dallas. He later signed with Capitol Records.
He joined the radio program Louisiana Hayride in 1952 and was responsible for Elvis Presley's appearance on the program.
He and his wife Bettie died together in a car crash in 2006.
He was on Louisiana Hayride with Slim Whitman.
