Revered football coach often referred to as 'Coach of Coaches' due to his having mentored coaches like Bill Parcells. He is a member of many halls of fame, including the Florida Sports Hall of Fame.
He was captain of the Ohio Northern University football team.
Despite his success in the high school and college ranks, he was only able to achieve a 1-18 record as an NFL head coach.
He was married to is wife Marge for 52 years. The couple had 5 sons together.
He has employed numerous coaches who went on to have success, including Joe Gibbs, who won 3 Super Bowls as head coach of the Washington Redskins.
