Bill Berkson
Poet
New York-born poet best known for works such as Lush Life and Goods and Services. He collaborated on Recent Visitors and Hymns of St. Bridget with, respectively, Joe Brainard and Frank O'Hara.
He attended Brown University and Columbia University and briefly worked as an editorial associate for ARTnews.
He published a 1999 memoir entitled Young Manhattan.
With his first wife Lynn O'Hare, he had two children. He later married Constance Lewallen and settled in San Francisco, California.
Kenneth Koch encouraged Berkson to write poetry.
