Wife of President Harry S. Truman who became the First Lady of the US in 1945 after the death of President Franklin Roosevelt. She is the longest living First Lady in US History, having spent 97 years on this earth.
She attended Miss Barstow's Finishing School for Girls after graduating from William Chrisman High School.
While she was First Lady she did not live in Washington other than during the social season when her presence was expected.
She met future husband and President Harry S. Truman in fifth grade and had one child, Margaret, by him.
She was married to the thirty-third U.S. President, Harry S. Truman.
