Composer, singer, and teacher who was one of the founding members of The Musical Fund Society.
He was born in London and worked with stage companies in Philadelphia and New York from 1793 to 1797.
He was also a writer of pedagogical pieces including 1811's Lessons and Exercises in Vocal Music.
He was born into an English family, but moved to the United States when he was young.
