He had minor television roles until starring as Bastian in the film adaptation of Michael Ende's novel, The NeverEnding Story.
He played roles in D.A.R.Y.L., Cocoon and Cocoon: The Return.
His brother is Kyle Oliver, and his parents are Kent and Kathy Oliver.
He was cast as the lead in director Tim Burton's film, Frankenweenie.
