Azim Azimzade

Self-taught cartoonist and caricaturist whose best-known works included "Ruins of Reichstag," "At Baku Summer Cottages," and "Jumping Over Bonfire." He was named People's Artist of the Azerbaijan SSR.
He was a self-taught artist who published his first paintings at the age of twenty-six.
His legacy was honored with a monument in Baku close to the Heydar Aliyev Palace in 2002.
He was born into an Absheron Rayon-based family of oil workers.
He and actor Mirza Babayev were both recipients of the People's Artist of the Azerbaijan SSR honor.
