In 2010, this soul, pop, and blues vocalist's self-titled debut album and its lead single, "Busy for Me," both rose to number one positions on Portuguese music charts. Aurea's other Top 15 singles include "Okay Alright," "No No No No (I Don't Want Fall in Love With You Baby)," and "Scratch My Back."
Before beginning her music career, she entered the performing arts program at the University of Evora.
She won MTV Europe Music Awards in both 2011 and 2012.
Born Aurea Sousa, she spent her earliest days in Santiago do Cacem, Alentejo, Portugal, and the rest of her childhood in southern Portugal's Algarve region.
She is a contemporary of fellow Portuguese singer David Carreira.
