He was a troubled youth, often spending time in juvenile detention.
He earned the nickname "The Old Mongoose" during his career.
His daughter, J'Marie Moore, also became a boxer.
He was knocked out by Rocky Marciano in a World Heavyweight Title match on September 21, 1955.
