Anthony Dowell
Dancer
British principal ballet dancer and one-time Artistic Director of The Royal Ballet. He danced such roles as Benvolio (Romeo & Juliet), Troyte (Enigma Variations), and Beliaev (A Month in the Country).
He received his training at the The Royal Ballet School.
He sat on the boards of the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing and the Royal Academy of Dance.
He was born and raised in London, and he later performed both in his home city and in New York (the home of the American Ballet Theatre).
He danced the role of Prospero in renowned choreographer Rudolf Nureyev's ballet version of Shakespeare's The Tempest.
