Anne Sexton
Poet
Pulitzer Prize-winning confessional poet known for such works as Live or Die, The Book of Folly, and To Bedlam and Part Way Back. Over the course of her career, she also co-wrote four children's books.
She studied at Boston University with fellow poet Robert Lowell.
She published a two-act play called Mercy Street in 1969.
She married Alfred Sexton, with whom she had two daughters. She committed suicide at the age of forty-five.
She was a close friend of fellow confessional poet Sylvia Plath. Both women committed suicide.
