Young adult author who rose to fame after her novel Learning Not to Drown was published in April 2014.
Throughout high school she served at the editor for the high school newspaper and later went on to graduate from Long Beach State with her bachelors in communication studies.
She became a member of the Society Of Children's Books Writers and Illustrators and was twice nominated for the Sue Alexander Most Promising New Work Award.
A California native, she married Linkin Park guitarist Mike Shinoda in 2003. The two gave birth to two children.
She has been to events with husband Mike and the rest of Linkin Park, including lead singer Chester Bennington.
