Angel Armas
Choreographer
Choreographer known for being one of the two founding members of Star Dance Studio in Miami, Florida. He and his co-founder, Victor Smalley, served as the choreographers for the reality TV series Dance Moms: Miami. The series aired in the spring of 2012.
He began taking Ballroom Dance lessons at the age of 12. He then began taking classes in Jazz, Lyrical, and Modern dance.
He was named the Top Jazz Choreographer by the National Dance Alliance in 2004. In 2005, the National Dance Alliance named him the Top Lyrical Choreographer.
He was born in Sagua La Grande, Villa Clara, Cuba. He moved to the US, with his family, at age 11.
As a dance teacher, he has stated his admiration of Martha Graham and her teaching style.
