English actor who starred as Ephialtes in director Zack Snyder's 300, which was based on the graphic novel by Frank Miller. As a TV actor, he appeared in the BBC series Prisoners' Wives.
He moved to London in 1984 to study at the Drama Centre London. He made his film debut in 1991's Edward II.
He made his directing debut in 2012 with the film Dragonfly.
He was born in Birmingham, where he began acting in the Birmingham Youth Theatre.
Roman Polanski directed him in The Pianist, in which he played Szalas.
