She was homeschooled beginning in the fourth grade.
She sprained her ankle when she was seventeen and was diagnosed with Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy. She was told that she would always struggle to walk normally but ultimately, she transcended the prognosis.
She and her sisters, Lauren and Rebecca, broke many Christian contemporary music records and were 2004's bestselling new Christian artists.
She and her sisters participated in the recording of "We Pray" for the 2007 National Day of Prayer; the track included Rebecca St. James.
