Influential jazz bassist, member of Weather Report, and collaborate with Bobby and the Midnites.
He started off playing the upright bass, later switching to the electric bass, which helped him get noticed by Weather Report.
He played bass on Phil Collins' album Face Value.
He has raised two sons named Myles Ramon and Malcolm Ra Johnson, both of whom have also become artists.
He played in Carlos Santana's band from 1985 to 1989.
