Allen Hoey
Poet
Poet whose 1987 poetry collection, A Fire in the Cold House of Being, received the Camden Poetry Award. He was nominated for the Pulitzer Prize in poetry for a 2008 collection entitled Country Music.
He studied under poet Hayden Carruth at Syracuse University. He later taught at Ithaca College.
He worked for a time as a publisher and editor of Tamarack Editions.
His first marriage produced two sons: Owen and Stephen.
In his later years, Hoey wrote several detective novels in the hard-boiled style of Raymond Chandler.
