Ali Ansari
Teacher
Italian-born author who founded the Institute for Iranian Studies at St. Andrews University in Scotland. His scholarly works include The Politics of Nationalism in Modern Iran, published in 2012, and Iran, Islam and Democracy: the Politics of Managing Change, published in 2000.
After graduating from King's College London and University College London, he earned his Ph.D. from the School of Oriental and African Studies at the University of London.
He wrote articles for The Independent and The Guardian, among other prominent publications.
His cousin, Farah Pahlavii, was once Queen of Iran. He wed Marjon Esfandiary in 2010.
Like fellow author Ignazio Visco, Ansari was born in Italy.
