Scottish blues and rock musician who led The Sensational Alex Harvey Band.
He worked odd jobs such as carpentry and tomb stone carving. His first gigs were with skiffle groups in the early 1950s.
He was very active in the glam rock movement of the 1970s.
He was the older brother of guitarist Les Harvey.
He and Susan Boyle are both Scottish-born singers.
