Alex Dowsett
Cyclist
British road racing cyclist who has earned notable victories at events like the Bayern-Rundfahrt and the British National Time Trial Championships. He broke track cycling's world hour record with a distance of 52.937 kilometers in 2015.
He was born in Maldon, Essex and attended King Edward VI Grammar School in Chelmsford. He was a swimmer before taking up cycling.
He suffers from the blood disorder known as haemophilia. Because of his need to inject himself with medicine, he received a special exemption from the Union Cycliste Internationale's policy against the usage of needles.
His father is British Touring Car Championship driver Phil Dowsett. He has a sister named Lois.
He and Spain's Juan Jose Lobato have both ridden for UCI ProTeam Movistar Team.
