Alan Lightman

An American physicist, writer, and professor, he is particularly known for his international bestseller, Einstein's Dreams. He worked for many years at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he taught both humanities and science courses.
He graduated from Princeton University with a degree in physics and subsequently received his PhD from the California Institute of Technology.
In 2003, he founded the Harpswell Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering female leaders in Cambodia.
He grew up in Memphis, Tennessee. He later married and had two daughters.
His book, Einstein's Dreams, tells the (fictional) story of the personal life of a young Albert Einstein.
