Professional catcher that was drafted first overall by the Baltimore Orioles during the 2019 Major League Baseball draft. While in college at the University of Oregon, he won an NCAA World Series, Pac-12 Baseball Player of the Year, Golden Spikes Award and the Buster Posey Award.
Prior to being drafted in 2019, he was also drafted by the Seattle Mariners during the 40th round of the 2016 Major League Baseball Draft after his senior year at Sherwood High School.
In June 2021, he was selected to play in the All-Star Futures Game, and in August of that year he was ranked the number one prospect in baseball.
He grew up in Portland with his parents, Carol and Randy, and his sister Josie.
He is a former number overall Major League Baseball draft pick, just like Stephen Strasburg and Bryce Harper.
