Husband of professional surfer Bethany Hamilton with whom he competed with on the 25th season of The Amazing Race.
He previously worked as a substitute teacher and at a youth ministry.
Though he is not professional, he also enjoys surfing like his wife.
He has lived in Princeville, Hawaii. He and Bethany welcomed a son named Tobias in June 2015. In March 2018, they welcomed a second son, Wesley Phillip. On February 14, 2021, they had a third son, Micah.
His wife Bethany Hamilton lost her arm in a shark attack in 2003.
